Election 2021: thank you

thank you election 2021

In North Shropshire the Lib Dems came 2nd in the overall share of the vote with 19.66% of the vote (+9.22% on 2017) in Election 2021. We asked residents to shake up Shirehall and they responded in spectacular fashion. It is clear that residents across Shropshire want a change of direction. We will continue to fight for residents and to get their voice heard.

If the Lib Dems had received another 238 votes in the right places we could have gained 5 seats extra seats in North Shropshire.

  • The Meres was missed by 23 votes!
  • Whittington was missed by 34 votes!
  • Wem was lost by 39 votes!
  • Whitchurch North was missed by 52 votes!
  • Ruyton & Baschurch was missed by 90 votes! Labour votes probably denied us the win.
  • Additionally, in Llanymynech we missed a win by 122 votes.
  • In Shrewsbury, we missed Bagley by 18 votes and Monkmoor by 99 votes

Across Shropshire the Lib Dems remain the largest opposition group with 14 seats (+2). We had spectacular gains in Bowbrook and Copthorne where we knocked off the Conservative Leader of Shropshire Council. But for another 34 votes David Walker would have also knocked off the Deputy Leader as well. Overall Shropshire remains under the control of the Conservatives who lost five seats. Another handful of votes and the Liberal Democrats could have gained 7 more seats and the Conservatives could have lost overall control of Shropshire Council. Thank you very much to everyone for your support, help and votes. It means the world to us. With your continued support we can push on towards the next General Election with a great deal of optimism.
